The crashing problem can be related to many factors.
(1)First, you can start Excel in safe mode.
start-run--excel /safe
Press Ctrl when you start the Excel program. If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Office program, we can try to disable them.
Start Excel in safe mode and verify the result.
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run > type ‘Excel /safe’ without quotes > OK
Note: There is a space between Excel and ‘/’
If Excel safe works, disable the add-ins following steps mentioned below and determine the problem causing add-in:
a) Click on File menu, click Options > Add-ins > Go button besides Manage: Com-in Add.
b) Check if there are add-ins listed, clear the checkbox.
c) Close the Office program and restart it.
d) Disable each add-in one at a time, restart the outlook, and repeat the above procedure. If the issue reappears again, it will help you to determine which add-in is causing this issue.
(2)Second, check this options in Excel:
=========
1. Click File, click Options, and then click Advanced.
2. Under the General tab, click to clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) option, and then click OK.
(3)Third, you can check the issue in clean boot mode to see if it is caused by some software conflicts.

Forth, scan the system for viruses and spyware.
(4)
Change the default printer to Microsoft XPS Document Writer and then try opening Excel. If it still fails repair the Office suite and verify the result.
Maybe following above steps can't slove this problem, but just try!
Microsoft always joked me!
