Title: Principal/Senior Development Lead

The Spartan team at Search Technology Center Asia aims to build an elite force, which can take on and deliver most mission critical tasks with a light speed. The team’s assignment has divisional visibility and all projects are deemed critical by VPs.
With a set of rich information understanding services like Cortana (conversation/user intent), Xiao Ice (小冰), Bing Index (web/user intent), Satori (entity), Ads (advertiser intent) and a high velocity experimentation framework, IPG is the cornerstone for providing rich information based services and solutions for the future of Microsoft.   As the team focuses on Digital Work/Digital Life scenarios, there will be many strategic projects that will emerge.   The Spartan team uses a model that leverages internal open source, agile and collaborative organizations and growth hacking to deliver on a backlog of these strategic projects in core areas of IPG.
The development lead in this team will play a critical role in driving the technical details of a variety of middle tier and backend service projects spanning multiple areas (Organic Search, Paid Search, Shared Platform, and etc.). He will have to understand the design, code and features of many different areas, quickly come up to speed and deliver features that delight customers and partners via his intuitiveness, attention to detail and responsiveness. He must be able to design services that are highly scale, low latency, always on, low cost to maintain and operate. He should be able to influence other developers to come up with the right design and architecture for their components and make them the model for common patterns going forward. He must have good partnership and influencing skills to be able to work across multiple teams.
The candidate must have a proven track record of making sound technical recommendations and must be an extremely strong advocate for quality engineering principles. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in influencing the architecture, engineering, and coding guidelines used by the team. The candidate must also have a proven track record of mentoring and developing junior devs. The candidate must also have a proven track record of good design and writing lots of solid, bug free, high performance code. He must demonstrate good understanding of object oriented design, safe programming and test driven development.
Required qualifications/experience:
•      8+ years of experience as a developer with at least 3 years as an engineer lead/manager
•      C# or C++ or Java, SQL, LINQ, .Net, WCF, WWF, ASP.Net MVC
•      Experience building web services
•      Experience building OLTP systems using SQL. Must have a good understanding of SQL fundamentals, T-SQL, stored procs and optimizing database applications for high scale, low latency
•      Depth and breadth in high performance distributed computing technologies
•      Experience with OOP, TDD and agile development models
•      Understanding of building multi-tier, geo distributed online platforms
•      Experience with data modeling of complex systems
•      Strong partnership, communication and coordination skills
•      Strong computational problem solving skills
•      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field required
Additional qualifications/experience preferred:
•      Experience building web services using ASP.NET (or similar technologies) and SDKs based on REST APIs
•      Experience with Windows Azure services is highly desirable
•      Experience with NoSQL, BigData paradigms
•      HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, JSON, Ajax, WPF, XML
•      Experience in implementing cross browser web applications
•      Knowledge of Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, iOS/OSX, Android app development
•      Experience with Bing technology stack
