The SAP Data Panel is a Microsoft Word Add-in developed by SAP for mapping variables as Content Controls into SAP Document Builder Elements and Overlays. The SAP Data Panel replaces the Third Party XML Schemas previously used for mapping variables within SAP Document Builder. The SAP Data Panel can be downloaded from the SAP Service Market Place.

Install:
Create a new empty word document, choose install:
In document builder customizing, create a new text for element by clicking “Create text”:
The document should be opended automatically with word application, and you can see variable structure in the right part.
After you finish editing the word document, just close the word application. It is not recommended to change the local storage path via save as, just use the default one. Then click Upload to load the modified word document into customizing. The file open dialog will automatically locate the default storage folder.
In case you didn’t see data structure in the right part, please check whether the data panel add-in is activated.
