Commit, PR and Branch Naming Conventions

Write commit messages and PR names according to Conventional Commits guidelines. Commit types include:

  • feat: A new feature
  • fix: A bug fix
  • docs: Documentation only changes
  • style: Changes that do not affect the meaning of the code (white-space, formatting, missing semi-colons, etc)
  • refactor: A code change that neither fixes a bug nor adds a feature
  • perf: A code change that improves performance
  • test: Adding missing or correcting existing tests
  • chore: Changes to the build process or auxiliary tools and libraries such as documentation generation
  • improvement: Improves a current implementation without adding a new feature or fixing a bug

Write the body of commit messages in present or "imperative" tense. Example commit messages and PR names would be:

feat: Add todo items
fix: Render missing images
refactor: Update text component

Name branches in a similar way. Use one of the above prefixes as a namespace for your branch. For example:

feat/add-todo-items
fix/render-missing-images
refactor/update-text-component
